Agonics consultants assisted BART – Bay Area Rapid Transit – with a kinematic clearance analysis for the BART New Train Car project to assess tight locations across the network so any remedial action could be taken. In addition to some expected tight spots, the analysis also highlighted a number of additional locations that required remediation.
The analysis was performed using datasets previously recorded for a whole of network asset inventory survey, thus improving the return on investment of the original survey. This reuse of existing LiDAR datasets underscored the inherent value of LiDAR datasets that have been correctly spatially referenced to the rail network so that reports on defects and asset condition can be relied on by the business.
