UGL Regional Linx Survey
MLS survey supports understanding of infrastructure condition at UGL Regional Linx
Client
UGL
Location
New South Wales, Australia
Challenge
UGL Regional Linx (UGLRL) manages the operation and maintenance of the NSW Country Rail Network (CRN), encompassing 2,400km of operational standard gauge lines.
Maintaining a deep understanding of track and easement infrastructure condition is critical to UGLRL’s operations. Traditional methods to assess clearances are resource-intensive and so UGLRL identified MLS data as a more scalable option.
Solution
Agonics mobilised its MLS system onto a hy-rail and datasets were recorded between Parkes and Lithgow, including all mainline and passing loop track.
The raw LiDAR and imagery data were then processed and published into the Agonics XERRA platform. Key reference datasets, including KM post locations, were rendered onto the XERRA map for easy navigation.
Outcomes
- The project recorded zero OHS incidents and successfully captured MLS data across the UGL Regional Linx southern extents.
- The XERRA platform enabled UGLRL users to complete site assessments without entering the rail corridor.
